Sometimes things just happen. Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Luann Lennox, who has put together a group of tequila connoisseurs called “Tequila Snobs.” Luann shares my passion for tequila, and she arranges tequila tastings for groups of people who want to learn about this magical juice, or just get together and sip some really good tequila. Obviously this will not only have to be on my and Deb’s agenda soon, but also that of several friends. (You know who you are.)
Luann and I shared a laugh about the gagging so many folks do when one mentions the word “tequila.” They’ve likely had a bad experience with some “lower-shelf” tequila when they were younger. Very cheap tequilas can be as little as 50% blue agave juice, and 50% “additives.” If you don’t respect the tequila, it can render a hangover of hideous proportions. Those who just want to get sh#@-hammered should not check out the Tequila Snobs group. Tequila Snobs are folks who understand that tequila is a fantastic liquor, with incredible nuances. It helps me relax after a few sips, which is nice, and it has been said to be very good for one’s health. To that I say: Let’s be snobs and enjoy this beautiful juice!
You can find Tequila Snobs on Facebook, and it’s free to join. Luann has a lot of great information and videos there, so check it out if you, too, are an aspiring tequila snob.
